HUSSEY WELCOMES UNADOPTED ESTATES MEETING

Cllr Derek Hussey Welcomes Unadopted Estates Meeting

At the request of Ulster Unionist Cllr Derek Hussey from the Derg Area of Strabane District Council a meeting has taken place with Roads Service in regard to Unadopted Estates throughout the Council Area.

The Derg Ulster Unionist Councillor, Derek Hussey, said "This is an ongoing issue throughout our entire Council area!  If we have locations within our area that are not ’Adopted’ it means that Council Services such a Bin Collection, etc can not be enacted despite the fact that residents are paying rates to our Council and have every right to expect the provision of these services.

"The responsibility in such situations lies with ’developers’!  When they fail to fulfil their duty of care to those who have purchased properties from them they must bear the cost!  If such areas are completed, then they should give Council an indemnity to go into these areas and fulfil simple issues like ’collecting bins’.

Mr Hussey concluded by saying "I welcome the fact that other Councillors from throuughout our area have been able to air similar concerns and that individual locations will be receiving ’attention’ from Roads Service in regard to the completion of their agreed responsibilties within these identified areas."
