| • THEY HAVENT GONE AWAY YOU KNOW |
In a speech to party colleagues in Augher Councillor Ross Hussey coomented on the recent IMC Report as follows The announcement by the IMC that renegade Republican Groups such as the RIRA or PIRA are supported by former IRA members should come as absolutely no surprise to anyone who has lived in Northern Ireland over the past 40 years or more. Clearly there is a terrorist mastermind and terrorist experience being put to not so good use when we witness terror attacks on the military and police, when we see bombs abandoned in South Armagh, bomb scares, and we see the orchestrating of riots on the streets of Northern Ireland. Anyone with a modicum of wit would have worked out that the IRA have gone back to what they do best. I have been asking for some time for a fuller report on the contents of the various explosive devices that were used by these terrorists and clearly we can now see that not only the expertise but the explosives - semtex in particular - have been supplied by the IRA. The failure of the IRA to decommission led to the downfall of David Trimble and clearly the DUP fed like frenzied wolves on this failure to achieve decommissioning. What now? The IRA clearly did not decommission all of its armoury, these explosives and munitions must have come from an IRA arms dump somewhere or are we to pretend that we did not see that particular 600 lb bomb or are we to pretend that the guns waved about by terrorist in Meigh were not really there? Are we to believe that terrorists do not roam parts of Tyrone, Fermanagh, Londonderry, Armagh, Antrim and Down at will? When policing and justice are devolved - and I believe that this is not that far away - will the power to return these unreconstructed terrorists to jail rest with our Justice Minister or will that power remain with the Secretary of State to ensure that Sinn Fein do not have to rubber stamp sending their allies to jail? If Sinn Fein truly believe in democracy they will encourage the Army Council - they havent gone away you know - to hand over details of the dumps that were not decommissioned and which were either seized or surrender to renegade groups. If the terror threat is so high why are the NIO bending over backwards to remove personal protection weapons from former members of the security forces? I have asked under Freedom of Information for information in relation to talks that took place at St Andrews between the NIO and political parties in relation to the removal of ppws. My request has been temporarily blocked due to Section 36 - what and why is so secret that the NIO is not prepared to tell me what talks took place at St Andrews in relation to personal protection weapons? Could it be that Sinn Fein have been pulling the strings in relation to personal protection weapons for former members of the security forces and in a backroom deal for the supposed decommissioning of IRA arms - which as we now see was not a complete success - those that were prepared to defend this province by wearing a uniform, by being visibly present in the streets and not hiding in ditches and planting bombs and cold bloodedly murdering men women and children and destroying the infrastructure of this province have been hung out to dry for political expedience? |
